A 23-year veteran to truck industry, Kate Miller is publisher of Heavy Duty Trucking, Heavy Duty Aftermarket Journal and heads up Newport’s Custom Publishing division. Prior to joining Newport, she was president of Blue Edge Marketing Ltd., a full-service marketing communications and public relations firm serving clients in the commercial vehicle and construction industries. During her tenure with Blue Edge, she headed up trucking accounts that included numerous component manufacturers and trailer builders, as well as business system developers, associations and buying groups. Previously, she was editor in chief of Equipment Today, and technical editor for OEM Off-Highway magazines, covering both the truck and construction markets. Miller also worked in the machine tool industry, specializing in truck and marine engine lines for Caterpillar and engine lines for Ford Motor Co. She was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and served as SAE Electronics Board Chairman.
Stanford joined Newport in 1985, first with poster advertising in truckstops and a truckstop publication, then serving 11 years as Publisher of NATSO Truckers News. A nationally recognized authority on the travel plaza industry, he is personally familiar with hundreds of truckstops/travel plaza locations and continues to serve on industry boards and foundations. Stanford developed RoadSTAR's unique distribution system, which makes the award-winning monthly the only magazine available at mega-warehouse distribution centers served by over-the-road truckers, as well as at more than 900 truckstop locations that also feature Newport poster advertising.
Brunelli began his career as a regional manager with Engler Instruments in Jersey City, N.J., moving up to National OEM Manager and later Heavy Duty Sales Manager. Following Engler's acquisition by Stemco Inc., he served in a variety of managerial positions for Stemco Instruments. He then moved from the supplier side of the truck market into publishing, representing several commercial transportation publications. This allowed him to put his knowledge of fleets, distribution channels, production and aftermarket programs to work for his clients. He attended Rutgers University and has been active in numerous industry organizations including American Trucking Assns., National Private Truck Council, Council of Fleet Specialists and Society of Automotive Engineers.
A veteran sales/marketing executive with Newport, Cummings handles advertising sales for all its properties in the Central states and part of the Midwest. Prior to joining Newport, Cummings spent 10 years as Executive Vice President of Sales for Million Market Newspapers. In 1975 he was voted Media Industry Newsletter's top newspaper ad salesman; Editor & Publisher has named him no. 1 print sales executive. He has served on the NATSO Board of Directors, Allied Committee, Convention Committee and Public Awareness Committee, and on the Advisory Board of Fund-Raising Committees for the Arthritis Foundation and the Heart Foundation.
Madden has specialized in business-to-business marketing for more than 22 years, including eight years representing Newport Communications in the Southeast and Southwest regions from offices in Atlanta. After earning a B.S. in Finance at Florida State University, he became a Program Administrator with Lockheed Martin. Three years later he became a Senior Cost Analyst in Rockwell International's Atlanta offices, then took an ad sales position with the Society of Automotive Engineers, representing Automotive Engineering and Aerospace Engineering magazines in the Southeast. His eight-year service with Newport followed. Madden relocated to the Northwest nine years ago, and has represented the leading publications in the aerospace and construction markets in the West since then.
Scott Reimer is a seasoned publishing marketer. Before joining Newport, he held numerous positions at Chicago-area BNP Media publications as Publisher of PM Engineer magazine and Associate Publisher and Regional Sales Manager of Plumbing & Mechanical and Supply House Times magazines. Prior to joining BNP Media in 1997, he was Automotive Advertising Account Manager for the Chicago Sun Times. He holds a BA degree in liberal arts from Michigan State University.
With over 22 years' experience in advertising sales, Bates—who is President of Bates Media—works closely with fleets to help them recruit qualified owner/operators and company drivers through advertising programs in RoadStar's Careers Section and the Newport Poster Network. He is a member of the Truckload Carriers Association, Alabama Trucking Association and the Alabama Safety Association.
